Individual Psychotherapy

Individuals desire to belong, to interact with others, find a significant place in society and move towards 
creating a happy and healthy life style. We will work in a collaborative effort towards goals that are mutually agreed upon.  Through counselling, we will help you to become aware of your strengths, problem solve, make decisions and choose the direction in your own life that is personally satisfying.  Challenges and problems include, but are not limited to, the following: addictions, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress management, loneliness, grief and loss, workplace stress, life transition, parenting, work-life balance and posttraumatic stress. 

Children and Adolescents

Childhood and adolescence are special and unique times in an individual’s life, and it can also present with challenges and concerns. 
Therapy may include academics, anger, anxiety and fears, loss, behavior, body image and self esteem, bullying, peer pressure, separation and divorce and shyness. Treatment approaches can include cognitive-behavioural therapy, parenting skills training, psycho-educational and social skills training.  Children often communicate through play; therefore, we lso utilize art and play therapy to help children express emotions, deal with negative experiences and learn healthy and appropriate ways of coping.   An important aspect of child and adolescent counselling is providing parents with advice, recommendations on helping their child and support. NOTE: (1) Both parents will need to consent to counselling for their child and (2) If you are divorced from your child's other parent; please provide a copy of the divorce decree and/or a copy of the custody agreement so that assurance of all appropriate consents are available at the initiation of counselling.
