Assessments

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." ~ Albert Einstein

An assessment can assist in understanding an individual’s symptoms, personality, ways of coping, identify behavioural and emotional problems (anxiety, depression, adjustment, substance-related disorders) and problems in living.  The assessment evaluates an individual’s overall mental health functioning.  After being a victim of a crime, involved in a motor-vehicle accident, workplace injury or disability, individuals can experience anxiety (passenger and driver anxiety), depressive mood (sadness, irritability, sleep problems), cognitive problems (difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness), posttraumatic stress (nightmares, flashbacks), chronic pain and adjustment difficulties that affect daily functioning.  An assessment can be done to help identify the mental impact of your injury and traumatic experience, create a treatment plan and provide you with psychotherapy needed to return to your prior activities of daily living. Assessments includes conducting a clinical interview, behavioural observations, review of any available documents, administration of tests, evaluating and interpreting the tests results, writing an integrated report, providing feedback to the client and answering questions. The assessments conducted include:

  • adoptions
  • criminal injuries compensation (CICB)
  • immigration
  • long-term disability (LTD)
  • motor-vehicle accidents (MVA)
  • workplace injuries (WSIB)
